The terms Non-destructive examination ( NDE), Non-destructive inspection ( NDI), and Non-destructive evaluation ( NDE) are also commonly used to describe this technology. As NDT does not permanently alter the article being inspected, it is a highly valuable technique for preventative maintenance.
